Sunday 31 May 2009
Poodle Scissoring Workshop with Philip Langdon Fee: £25 |
|
Sunday 1st February 2009
First aid in the Grooming Salon with qualified vet nurse, Daniella
Ramsier. There will be the opportunity for group discussions and
hands-on experience of bandaging etc. on our long-suffering
demonstration dogs. I can't stress enough the importance of groomers
attending these days - knowing what to do in the event of an emergency
is so important and could save the life of a dog in your salon. It is
also important to be aware of the preventative measures you should be
taking to avoid accidents in the parlour. Don't become one of the
statistics - even if you have attended a First Aid Day before, it is
vitally important to update your knowledge and skills. |

A scissoring workshop was held on Sunday 18 March,
which was hosted by Philip Langdon. Philip is an extremely talented
and well known groomer with a huge following - he has been Groomer of
the Year twice, has been Runner Up 3 times and has won Eurogroom 3
times. Philip brought ' Charlie' with him - a gorgeous black standard
poodle and gave a fantastic scissoring demonstration, together with
the opportunity for delegates to have hands on experience (with
Philip's own entertaining brand of 'constructive criticism'). The day
was a huge success and Charlie was very patient! Philip has kindly
said that he will be willing to host another workshop for us later in
the year, as we had to disappoint so many people as the event was
booked up so quickly. If you would like to come to the next workshop,
please let us know ASAP and we will add you to the mailing list. |
|
We held a very well attended training day on Sunday 7 January 2007
by Liz Bradley of Brueik Scottish Terriers and are holding a
'Scissoring Workshop' hosted by Philip Langdon of Atastar Poodles this
Sunday 18 March. Philip is one of the best groomers in the country, if
not the world, and has held the title of 'Groomer of the Year' several
times and too many other grooming titles to mention. We will continue
to hold other seminars and events throughout the year, so 'watch this
space'. |

First Aid Day - Sunday 21st May 2006 |
 |
A very well attended training day on First Aid in
the Grooming Parlour was held at Canine Design on Sunday 21 May.
This day was a great success and was enjoyed by all. Sarah Emery,
VN, Phc, was our speaker for the day and the talk was informative,
interesting and entertaining. There were opportunities for
some hands-on practise when we all had the chance to try
different techniques for bandaging the various 'guinea pig'
dogs who were in attendance. This was a really good
opportunity for |
| groomers around the
area to get together and swap experiences, together with
learning all about how to deal with emergency situations which
may arise in our parlours. |
|
| Subjects covered ranged from such simple problems
as the cutting of quicks, to the more serious emergencies such as
prolapsed eyeballs and heart attacks. Obviously, we all hope
that we do not ever have to deal with such emergencies, but it
is good to have knowledge on how we should deal with it,
should the worst happen. The day was such a success that we
are planning another First Aid Day, probably around September
time and there are also plans afoot for a Mock |
 |
| City & Guilds examination, so if
anyone is interested in either of these events, please don't
hesitate to phone or email to go on the mailing list. |
