Masterclasses with world renowned groomer, Colin Taylor

Payments to attend Colin Taylor's Events are made direct to Colin (please see below)

Exciting news - we are planning a series of masterclasses with world renowned groomer, Colin Taylor.

  • Colin Taylor's next masterclass

    Sunday 9th December 2012

  • Colin Taylor's Masterclass in the New Year

    Sunday 17 February 2013

Class numbers will be very limited and the cost is expected to be around £100 per person. This is a training day rather than a seminar and the tuition will be very personal. All those attending will need to provide their own very well prepped dog and Colin wil spend time personally tutoring each and every person who attends the class. All breeds are welcome.

The classes will be designed to help all levels of groomer - from the complete beginner to the more advanced groomer wishing to improve their scissor or competition skills.

This is an amazing opportunity to be taught by a world class groomer at a very reasonable price. Many people who have seen Colin work will know that he is a talented and entertaining demonstrator - his scissor skills are something to behold and, even better, he loves passing his vast knowledge on to others. This is an opportunity to really improve your grooming, enhance your career and possibly gain skills and knowledge to successfully compete.

We expect these classes to be very popular and places will be offered on a first come first served basis.

Register your interest now by emailing me on enquiries@caninedesign.co.uk and I will hold a provisional place for you

I can't stress enough the importance of groomers attending these days - knowing what to do in the event of an emergency is so important and could save the life of a dog in your salon. It is also important to be aware of the preventative measures you should be taking to avoid accidents in the parlour. Don't become one of the statistics - even if you have attended a First Aid Day before, it is vitally important to update your knowledge and skills.

Scissoring Workshop with Philip Langdon

14 October 2007

First Aid in the Grooming Parlour Training Day to be

hosted by vet nurse, Sarah Emery.

Sarah has already run several First Aid Days for us

and they have been very popular and successful.

2 September 2007

Dandie Dinmont Day, hosted by

DD breeder, Margaret Nicholson

 22 July 2007

Westie Training Day,was hosted by Lesley and Kelly (Canine Design). This day was aimed to help people who are planning to take their City & Guilds Level III and focused on high quality pet trimming, not show trimming. There were demonstrations and the opportunity for a limited number of people to bring pre-prepared dogs with them to groom on the day, with hints and tips from the Canine Design staff.

A scissoring workshop was held on Sunday 18 March,

which was hosted by Philip Langdon. Philip is an extremely talented and well known groomer with a huge following - he has been Groomer of the Year twice, has been Runner Up 3 times and has won Eurogroom 3 times. Philip brought ' Charlie' with him - a gorgeous black standard poodle and gave a fantastic scissoring demonstration, together with the opportunity for delegates to have hands on experience (with Philip's own entertaining brand of 'constructive criticism'). The day was a huge success and Charlie was very patient! Philip has kindly said that he will be willing to host another workshop for us later in the year, as we had to disappoint so many people as the event was booked up so quickly. If you would like to come to the next workshop, please let us know ASAP and we will add you to the mailing list.

We held a very well attended training day on Sunday 7 January 2007

by Liz Bradley of Brueik Scottish Terriers and are holding a 'Scissoring Workshop' hosted by Philip Langdon of Atastar Poodles this Sunday 18 March. Philip is one of the best groomers in the country, if not the world, and has held the title of 'Groomer of the Year' several times and too many other grooming titles to mention. We will continue to hold other seminars and events throughout the year, so 'watch this space'.

First Aid Day - Sunday 21st May 2006

A very well attended training day on First Aid in the Grooming Parlour was held at Canine Design on Sunday 21 May. This day was a great success and was enjoyed by all. Sarah Emery, VN, Phc, was our speaker for the day and the talk was informative, interesting and entertaining. There were opportunities for some hands-on practise when we all had the chance to try different techniques for bandaging the various 'guinea pig' dogs who were in attendance. This was a really good opportunity for groomers around the area to get together and swap experiences, together with learning all about how to deal with emergency situations which may arise in our parlours

Subjects covered ranged from such simple problems as the cutting of quick's, to the more serious emergencies such as prolapsed eyeballs and heart attacks. Obviously, we all hope that we do not ever have to deal with such emergencies, but it is good to have knowledge on how we should deal with it, should the worst happen. The day was such a success that we are planning another First Aid Day, probably around September time and there are also plans afoot for a Mock

City & Guilds examination, so if anyone is interested in either of these events, please don't hesitate to phone or email to go on the mailing list.
