The City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate for Dog Grooming Assistants is aimed at people new to the industry. It is an important grounding in learning the fundamental basics to working in a grooming salon.

You will be overseen by a qualified dog grooming tutor who will provide detailed direction for your grooming and practical work.

We provide students with a course folder to help with the information needed to be successful in this course.

Over the course of 15 salon days, you will learn:

• bathing and drying dogs

• preparation of dogs for a senior groomer

• maintaining equipment

• how to control and restrain dogs

• basic clipper and scissor work

• maintaining cleanliness and biosecurity

It is a prerequisite for all students to undertake the Level 2 qualification before they can enrol for the Level 3.

Level 2 Extended (7863-02)

PRICE: £4,200

There is a more popular option of undertaking a 20 day Level 2 course which covers clipping and trimming in much more depth. This gives you a much better grounding to work as a professional dog groomer on completion of your course, rather than the 15 day course which is a grooming assistant’s course only and covers minimal clipping and trimming.

This is the recommend minimum training if you are looking to become a professional groomer.

Theory

Theory days are held every Thursday at our salon. 4 theory sessions are provided for this course and cover the main areas on which you are assessed. We provide recommended reading materials and revision booklets for students to work through.

Assessment

A number of salon-based practical assessments and theory assignments are conducted throughout your training. When you are nearing the end of your course, an online test of 60 multi-choice questions is invigilated in-house.
